About Kajuru
General Information
Kajuru (Adara: Ajure) Local Government Area is located in the southern region of Kaduna State, Nigeria. The administrative headquarters is Kajuru town.[reference:0]
The area was carved out of Chikun Local Government Area in March 1997 by the military administration of General Sani Abacha.[reference:1] The major ethnic group is the Adara (also known as Kadara by the Hausa), alongside other groups including Gbagyi, Hausa, Fulani, Yoruba, and Igbo.[reference:2]
Agriculture is the dominant economic activity, with crops such as maize, millet, sorghum, groundnuts, okro, and sugar-cane cultivated across the LGA. The area spans 2,229 km² and had a population of 109,810 at the 2006 census.[reference:3][reference:4]

Kajuru is blessed with fertile land and hardworking citizens who play an important role in agricultural production within Kaduna State. In 2025, we launched the distribution of free fertilizer to farmers, with 4,000 bags allocated to support food production across the LGA.[reference:5]
Through transparency, community participation, and effective governance, we aim to build a prosperous future for all residents of Kajuru.

Major Cash Crop

Kajuru farmers contribute to Kaduna State's strong ginger production, which is widely exported and traded. Food and cash crop production remain key economic drivers.[reference:6]
Livestock Rearing
Animal Husbandry

Livestock such as cattle, goats, sheep, and poultry are raised across rural communities within Kajuru LGA, alongside poultry trading and crafts making.[reference:7]
